Theresa Rhodus is a native Nebraskan and studied at UNL. Art has been a part of her life since childhood and remains a part of each of her days. After teaching art to special needs teens Theresa rekindled her love of art and ambitions to learn, create and teach art on another level. I love to get together with many local artist friends where we create, inspire and help each other with our art.
I work in several different mediums including Acrylic, Colored Pencil, Graphite, wood burning, and Pen and Ink. I currently am working in an acrylic style balancing color, motion and texture in an energetic paint throwing technique. My colored pencil work is deeply saturated, realistic and rich in color while my graphite work is light and realistic. Gourds are my usual wood burning subjects and my pen and ink style is illustrative. I get my inspiration from local American Native pow wows that I attend and nature.
I currently teach Color Pencil classes for Metro Community College Continuing Education Program and workshops at Fine Arts on Fifth Gallery in Malvern IA.
